Sidewalk clean up

In my last update, I mentioned that I’ve received several complaints about dirty sidewalks and cobwebs on buildings. I know many of you are too busy in the summers to handle these tasks. It was brought to my attention that Mark Tesch will help with these duties for $100 per month or $30 per cleaning (on standard store front). If interested, he can be reached at (509) 670-6074.

Don’t Forget: Next Merchant Social

Our next merchant Social will be Oct 4th at 8am at Stormy Mountain Brewing! Mark your calendars to join us for good conversation, downtown updates, planning and their yummy breakfast burritos!

Downtown Survey

As you may know, HDCA is required to meet certain strict guidelines laid out by both the Washington and National Main Street Programs. This is the first year WA Main Street will be offering the district trends survey to Main Street Communities. This is a benchmark survey tool that will help HDCA and Washington Main Street get more qualitative and quantitative feedback from business and property owners.

If interested, please complete the survey by October 31. Your feedback is optional, anonymous and appreciated!

Halloween Flash Mob Rehearsals

If you or somebody you know would like to be involved in this year’s flash mob, open practices happen at the following times:
Fridays October 13, 20 and 27 from 4-5pm @ Chelan Dance Centre
Everybody is welcome and participation is free!

Tree Decorating

The HDCA will be hosting a sidewalk tree decorating contest amongst downtown businesses this year for Small Town Christmas! This is an advance notice to get you thinking.

Since our sidewalk trees have no electricity to allow for us to light them, this is a great, fun way for all of us to get involved in sprucing them up for the holidays. And because everybody loves some downtown competition, we’ll have a nice plaque for best in show. It will list each year’s winner and travel to the winner’s location for the year.

You can pick a theme for your designated tree or just make it beautiful or even make it kooky. The goal is to create a group of trees downtown that visitor’s will get a kick out of exploring. This is a creative, charming holiday attraction that will be unique to Chelan and will nicely complement the Festival of Trees that HDCA is hosting at the Chamber this year.

We’ll follow up with details as the date draws closer, but the goal of this email is to get your creative juices flowing and get you thinking about how you’d like to decorate your tree!!
