Promotion

The Promotion Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 8am at various downtown establishemnts such as Bear Food's Cafe, Riverwalk Inn Bakery, Campbell's Veranda, A Shot of Gratitude, etc.

2010 Promotion Committee Work Plan:

 

Goal:  Promote downtown as the historic, social, cultural, and economic center of the community.

 

Objectives:

 

1.         Market a vibrant shopping & dining image of historic downtown Chelan.

 

Activities:        

§  Develop a coupon book for distribution at resorts, hotels, etc.

§  Continue to list all downtown and partner events on website.

§  Explore ways to enhance www.historicchelan.org with Facebook, Twitter, etc.

§  Explore promotional opportunities “linked” to the Chelan Trolley

§  Explore new promotional events for 2011 (i.e., Mardi Gras, Cinco De Mayo, etc.)

 

2.         Enhance successful HDCA special events.

 

Activities:

   §  Continue to support monthly First Friday promotion.

§  Support existing shopping events (Garage-a-rama, Sidewalk Sales) and look for new opportunities such as the 2009 “Once in A Blue Moon” Sales Promotion

§  Expand Halloween Trick or Treat to include a sales promotion or contest

§  Enhance/Expand Hot Friday & Small Town Christmas promotions

§  Encourage more participation by merchants

 

3.         Support downtown events coordinated by other organizations.

 

Activities:

§  Identify new opportunities with existing events (i.e., Winterfest, Car Shows, Top Dog Parade, and various boating and athletic events).

§  Earth Day Clean Up (Chelan Middle School)  and Earth Day Fair (Recycling Group) 

§  Explore partnership and assist Lake Chelan Arts Council with their proposed Fine Arts Fair on the third weekend of August.

§  Continue working with the Lake Chelan Nordic Club, USFS, and Echo Valley Ski Facility (LC Chamber & LCTPG) to promote Chelan as a winter recreation destination.

§  Continue cross promotions with local wineries such as “Red Wine and Chocolates” and other events (Chelan Nouveau, Crush, Spring/Fall Barrel Tasting)

§  Assist or partner with local growers and businesses to create a “Farm to Fork” dinner and possible fair in Riverwalk Park  that promotes growing local & organic foods, etc.
