Woodin Avenue Landing fundraising

It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve officially kicked off the final fundraising stage for Woodin Avenue Landing. We need to raise $30,000 by August 1 in order to break ground the day after Labor Day! Woodin Avenue Landing is located in the heart of our community, and we’re excited for this space to help create a stronger, more cohesive community as well as beautifying the entrance/exit to our downtown.

If you’d like to be a part of this project, please let me know. I am happy to share information on how you can be involved. I’m excited to announce that we  have a generous donor that has committed to match all donations dollar for dollar, so donations made before August 1st will automatically be doubled (up to $8,000).

Music in the Park

We’re kicking off our first season of Music in the Park! For year one, we’ve got some great bands lined up. We’ll start with the Jefferson Street Parade Band and Environmental Encroachment on June 7th from 4-6pm at the Pavilion. These are large, high energy brass bands the whole family can enjoy (think marching bands but more fun and with wild outfits).

We want to give a huge thank you to RE/MAX Advantage – Lake Chelan for sponsoring 2017 Music in the Park, and to Stormy Mountain Brewing for housing and feeding all 25+ members of Jefferson Street Parade Band and Environmental Encroachment.

Festival of Trees

Thank you to volunteers, Nancy Thompson and Cathy Sand for their commitment to bringing a Festival of Trees to Downtown Chelan!

The Festival of Trees is a national event during the holiday season. This year, Chelan will participate with a silent auction fundraiser hosted by HDCA to benefit the Chelan Food Bank.  It is a community effort in which different businesses and organizations decorate a tree to be auctioned off. The Festival of Trees will help kick off Small Town Christmas in Downtown Chelan!

In an effort to promote this event throughout the tourist season, the HDCA will be decorating a tree that will be on display in the Visitor’s Center along with information about the Festival of Trees starting in July. The theme for the promotional tree will be Merchants of Downtown Chelan, and as well as serving as the promotional tree, it will be auctioned off along with the other trees.

On the promotional tree, we plan to represent individual downtown businesses with their own decoration on the tree, and to throw in a few iconic downtown goodies as well. Here is how you can get involved:

➢      Send a digital logo (about 2” x 2”) for a custom merchant ornament – send to hdca@nwi.net by June 15th.
➢      Contribute a store-related item to further promote your business (optional)

Any business, organization or community member is also welcome to decorate a tree to be auctioned off.

Merchant Breakfast

We’ve got our next Merchant Social schedule for Tuesday, June 13th at 8am at Apple Cup Café. Mark your calendars for a morning of lively downtown discussion!

Memorial Day Parade

Thank you to the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce for hosting another great Memorial Day Parade!
