Festival of Trees

Don’t forget to go to the Chamber this week and next (we’ve extended our dates) to see all the beautiful creations submitted for the Festival of Trees! Our donors really outdid themselves. Bid on and take home your favorite.

Thank you to Windermere for sponsoring this event, and to our tree/wreath donors: Tin Lilly, St. Andrew’s Episcopal, Chelan Printing and Custom Signs, Chelan School of Innovation, Chelan 7 Firefighters Assoc., Jim and Carol Taylor, The Cutting Garden, Virginia West and Cathy Sand.

And a HUGE thank you to our Board Volunteer, Nancy Thompson and community member, Cathy Sand, for all the hours of hard work they put into this event. All proceeds will go to the food bank!

Holiday Lights

Downtown Businesses, please have your skyline lights on by this Friday for the tree lighting ceremony. If you don’t know how to turn on your lights, Skip Morehouse can likely tell you where your lights plug in.

Great job to all that have decorated sidewalk trees! I’ve seen people out taking photos and enjoying the trees! We’ll award the winner in December.

Hot Friday

We’ve got Hot Friday and Santa’s Tree lighting coming up the day after Thanksgiving! Sales kick off early morning and run through the day. Go to www.historicchelan.org to see all the day’s sales!

Tree lighting ceremony

After you’ve scored great Hot Friday deals, stick around downtown for Santa’s Tree Lighting Ceremony. With a generous sponsorship by Windermere, we’ve been able to really take the event up a notch this year. It all starts on Fri. Nov 24th at 6pm – we’ll have a children’s light parade starting at 6pm, tree lighting at 6:15 and caroling and marshmallow roasting afterward! Don’t miss out!

Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, Nov 25th at 9am will be our first annual Breakfast with Santa held at Campbell’s Resort. This event is also made possible by a generous sponsorship from Windermere. We’re excited to say that tickets are sold out for this year! If you missed out, keep it in mind for next year!

Small Business Saturday

If you miss out on Hot Friday sales, be sure to make it downtown on Saturday, Nov 25th for Small Business Saturday. Our local merchants are decked out with free swag for shoppers! Don’t let supplies run out!

Music in the Park 2018

Jennifer recently presented the vision for Music in the Park 2018 to the Lake Chelan Community Service Council, and they have made a decision to award HDCA $750 for MIP 2018! The goal is to make MIP bigger and better in 2018, and this money is a great start toward just that! Thank you to the Lake Chelan Community Service Council for supporting the vision!

Thank you!

It’s an odd way to end such a festive newsletter, but it’s with bittersweet feelings that I want to let you know that I have given my resignation as the Executive Director of HDCA. I am grateful for my time and experiences in this role, but I feel called to pursue other opportunities at this point in my life.

Thank you all for your support of the program. I always brag about our Board of Directors and my comments are sincere – I am leaving with a very strong Board of Directors intact and I have the utmost faith they will lead HDCA toward great progress and success. I am excited to watch that happen under the leadership of a new Executive Director.

The Board has formed a committee to work on hiring a new ED, and we’ll send out the job posting when it’s ready.

I’m not leaving Chelan, so I’ll see you all around!
