HDCA hires new Executive Director

HDCA has hired our new Executive Director! Welcome to Erin McCartle. It goes without saying that Erin will be an amazing asset to the organization.

Erin brings with her 25 years of experience in marketing, management and business development. After 13 years at Microsoft, McCardle moved to Chelan and quickly became involved in the Lake Chelan community. McCardle was hired as a consultant by the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce in 2009 to transform the Winterfest event into a source of economic boost for the Lake Chelan valley. In her time as the Executive Director of the Lake Chelan Wine Alliance, Erin helped guide the branding effort for the newly formed AVA. McCardle has also been a Chelan City Councilmember for the past seven years and just recently was re-elected for another four year term.

Small Town Christmas – Best Holiday Getaways

It was such an honor for the HDCA to be contacted by The Seattle Times about our Small Town Christmas events! They’ve named us one of the 10 best holiday getaways in Washington! You can see the full article below.

Santa’s Tree Lighting Ceremony

We hope you had a chance to enjoy the tree lighting ceremony! Nancy Thompson, Cathy Sand and Jennifer Keitzman put a lot of time and energy into making it the best yet – adding the light parade, marshmallow roasting and more! It was a much, much larger turnout than we expected. While we were excited by the size of the crowd, it also felt a bit chaotic! Next year, we’ll be prepared for the huge crowd and we’ll continue to strengthen this long-standing tradition!

Festival of Trees

We’re happy to report, the first Festival of Trees raised $2200 for the Lake Chelan Food Bank! The beautiful trees were such a nice addition to Small Town Christmas. Thank you again to all who participated. The tree donated by Frenchies Flutes and Fleurs came in with the highest bid! Thank you, Frenchies!

Santa Breakfast

The first annual Santa Breakfast was a hit with children and adults alike! With only 100 tickets available this year, we quickly sold out. Next year, we’ll make more tickets available! Thank you again to Nancy Thompson and Jennifer Keitzman for making this a success!

Sidewalk Tree Winner

Congratulations to Willow for winning Best in Show in the holiday sidewalk tree decorating contest! Our judges had a difficult time because there were so many great trees! It’s been awesome to have so much participation in this activity and it’s really added a new, charming element to our holiday lighting. I’ve seen people stopping to take photos with various trees!
