A Quick Note From Our Director:

Crisp air, fall leaves, a snow-capped Stormy Mountain, sweaters and boots, warm drinks, scarves, football, pumpkins, Thanksgiving, Christmas and local holiday shopping! I love this time of the year! Cool weather always reminds me that I have a warm and loving family and community. Recently, a friend from college came to visit from New York City. She shared that Chelan's downtown was one of the most beautiful, serene, and welcoming downtowns she had ever visited. In fact, she is considering moving here at some point in her life. My friend reminded me to never take our city, our downtown, or our community for granted. My heart fills with gratitude knowing that I not only grew up in this community, but that I have been able to come back in such a capacity to give back.

A big thank you to all of you who bought candy and provided for another successful, safe, and fun downtown celebration of Halloween! Without the downtown businesses, this fun trick-or-treat celebration would not be possible. Thank you! Now, the holiday spirit fills the air! Plans are moving forward with our Sip & Stroll (Nov. 14), Hot Friday (Nov. 27), Small Business Saturday (Nov. 27), and "Cider" Monday (Nov. 30), and Small Town Christmas (Dec 1-24). Stay tuned for more details! We can't wait for another fun celebration of the holidays!

Especially after a year with such unexpected tragedies, I'm finding it to be truer for myself that the holiday season is truly a special time to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to make life better for those around us. With the winter season upon us, let us remember that we are forever #chelanstrong, and let us embrace the spirit of the holidays downtown!

Thanks to each and every one of you for continuing to make Chelan a special place for all to enjoy!

See you downtown,

We are excited to announce that we are a Neighborhood Champion again of the 6th annual Small Business Saturday on November 28th this year! If you are a business owner and want to participate, please email Katlyn at hdca@nwi.net by Wednesday, November 18th.

What does participation require? Not much actually! You will receive some Small Business Saturday swag to give out to your customers, will be in our social media promotion, and we will share any specials/deals you have going on! This is completely free and we hope everyone can participate!

What is Small Business Saturday?
Founded by American Express® in 2010, Small Business Saturday® is a day to celebrate the small businesses that help support their neighborhoods and is held every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Now in its sixth year, Small Business Saturday has been embraced as part of the holiday shopping tradition as each year shoppers, businesses and public officials come together to Shop Small® and show their neighborhood pride.

On November 28th, the greater Chelan area is encouraged to take part in the Small Business Saturday downtown Chelan. Shoppers can stop by to support local businesses and receive Shop Small® giveaways like tote bags, buttons and balloons (first-come basis).

It's time to kick off our celebration of A Small Town Christmas!
Read below to learn how you can celebrate with our community!

**If you are a downtown business owner and want to participate in this year's A Small Town Christmas, email Katlyn at hdca@nwi.net. Katlyn will also be coming downtown mid-next week to each business with a sign-up sheet and details!

Why coloring? Coloring is an easy way to calm the mind and occupy the hands. This gentle activity focuses the brain on the present, blocking out any intrusive thoughts.
“Art making is a powerful intervention.
Neuroscientific research has shown that
through the use of art therapy, the human brain
can physically change, grow, and rejuvenate.”
