Hey everyone!
My name is Kiersten and I wanted to take this space to introduce myself and give our members and associates a feel for what Aimee and I hope to accomplish here at the HDCA.
First of all, I am SO excited to be here! When I read the job posting, it felt as if the Marketing and Programs Coordinator position was tailored just for me.
As an Urban Planning major and former project manager, historic preservation and downtown revitalization are two causes that really sing to the planning nerd in my heart. Better still, I’m a lifelong lover of language and writing so it was the cherry on top to incorporate a marketing element. And to get to do all of this in our beautiful little corner of the world? It’s a very happy marriage of my favorite things. In summary: it’s pretty exciting to be here.
I have the added bonus of commuting to work by foot. This means I get to observe every nook and cranny of our downtown on a daily basis. Watching town change with the seasons brings a special kind of energy: the ebb and flow of tourist activity, the new blooms as April turns to May, changing storefronts, the resurgence of outdoor seating. It’s all a part of what makes our downtown core so appealing, and this doesn’t happen by accident. It is because of our members, our downtown businesses, the volunteers, and all of the great organizations that are in constant collaboration. They are the reason that Chelan has a uniquely inviting atmosphere that consistently brings tourists and new residents alike.
So how can we continue to build upon all that Chelan has to offer while preserving and promoting its rich history? This is what Aimee and I cannot wait to get out and discuss with you. Above all, we’re gluttons for transparency and communication. We want to ensure our members are being heard and that we’re always acting in the best interest of our historic downtown. We also can’t wait to take what we learn and implement new programs and events that will further solidify downtown Chelan as a top destination for both visitors and our local community.
We have a lot to look forward to this spring and summer (and oh my, are they coming fast!) with some fun events up our sleeves. Keep up with us on social to be the in the know on all the happenings!
